Intro to Pre-made Pouch
1.Type of Pre-made Pouch
According to the pouch type, the pre-made pouch commonly includes Stand-up pouch, Stand-up Spout pouch, Stand-up zipper pouch, 3 side seal pouch, Flat bottom zipper pouch(8 side seal), Pillow pouch, BIB(Bag in Box), shape spout pouch etc. If classified by application, it mainly includes dry food pouch, vacuum pouch, liquid pouch and retort pouch etc.

Undoubtedly, stand-up pouch and 8 side seal pouch have been the most influential in the flexible packaging industry for more than 10 ten years. There into, stand-up pouch was invented by a Japanese firm in the late 1980s; and it was not introduced into China and widely used until the invention patent was about to expire at the beginning of 2000. Stand-up spout pouch is mainly used for packaging of beverage and washing liquid, of which jelly and sauce are the most representative applications. 8 side seal pouch was invented by a famous Japanese packaging company 15 years ago, and was upgraded and introduced into China market by a Chinese flexible packaging enterprise around 2010, widely used for packing pet food, nuts and candies etc. With the improved version of 8 side seal pouch, LD PACK quickly occupied the market and started the first shot of brand upgrading , becoming the champion of the subdivision industry in Guangdong province.
2. Processing Method of Pre-made Pouch
The process flow of pre-made pouch includes raw material production - printing - laminating - slitting - pouch making - post processing. The material structure of the pouch is composed of different materials according to the specific contents, meeting the various packaging needs of customers.
3. Processing Equipment of Pre-made Pouch
The common gravure printing machine, solvent and solvent-free laminating equipment can meet the printing and laminating needs of various packaging structures. However, it is required to choose the right pouch- making machine based on specific pouch type. The large-scale manufacturers will choose specific machine for specific purpose, that is, a pouch-making machine only produces 1-2 pouches of the same type, so as to ensure the production efficiency and quality. Recently, the domestic model of pouch-making machines have got a great improvement, mostly with the same level of efficiency and quality as imported machine from Japan or Europe, breaking the foreign patent restrictions and enriching the flexible packaging market and application.
4. Different Pouches with Different Functions
Different types of pouches are usually added special functions to meet the needs of consumers, such as beverage pouch with spout for easy drinking, rice pouch with plastic handle for easy carrying, coffee packaging with one-way exhaust valves for better sealing effect and so on. It cannot meet the requirements in terms of efficiency or quality by manual processing, so it is required to add corresponding processing device into the pouch-making machine; or use a separate off-line automatic equipment to complete these processes. At present, the pouch-making machines can add handles or coffee valves into the pouches automatically; and the automatic spout-welding machines have been switched from Japanese model to domestic model, which has been able to meet the requirements of both efficiency and quality.
5. Automation of Pouch-making Equipment
The improvement of production efficiency and automation become the most urgent problems to be solved in the current pouch-making process. Since the labor cost and recruitment difficulties are increasing, the efficient and automated production will be the key of future development. For example, the automatic bag-handling equipment currently used can realize automatic bag sorting and bundling, saving a lot of manpower than the traditional manual bag collection. The performance of high-speed bag-making equipment is also constantly improving. The pouch-making speed of stand-up pouch has also been increased from the 80~100 pieces/minutes to 150~200 pieces/minute, which greatly improves the production efficiency.
