Mono-material c composite is the inevitable path for environmentally friendly flexible packaging

The advantages of recyclable Mono material packaging, using an HBPE/CPE composite structure as an example, lie in its single-type material composition, which eliminates the need for sorting during recycling and allows for reuse.

Why is PE stretched to create HBPE environmentally-friendly film? Stretching improves film performance by achieving thinner material, high strength (for multi-color printing), high rigidity (stiffness), and high transparency.

Thus, HBPE has the following advantages:

Heat Seal Strength

Compared with CPP, CPE has a 20°C lower starting seal temperature, making it suitable for high-speed filling with superior anti-contamination sealing. CPE also has high heat seal strength, which is ideal for liquid and heavy packaging.

Straight-Line Tearability

HBPE/CPE allows for straight-line tearing from any location without needing a notch, reducing bag breakage during transportation and enhancing packaging safety. Additionally, traditional PET/CPE or PA/CPE structures lack heat sealing properties, whereas the eco-friendly polyethylene HBPE/CPE surface does, reducing leakage during transport.

For pure PE bags, the urgent issues to address are heat resistance and barrier properties. To improve the barrier properties of pure PE bags, materials such as PVA coatings or aluminum vapor deposition can be applied. Additionally, PE has a better water resistance rate compared to PET or nylon, making it particularly suitable for PVA coatings.
