Working Hard on Recyclable Food Packaging for LD Pack
Abstract: At present, it’s a positive and wise choice to convert multi-material flexible packaging to mono-material recyclable packaging, which is also a market opportunity for any company company pursuing higher social value and brand value.
Multi-material flexible packaging meets the requirements of good barrier performance, physical property, automatic packaging and exquisite printing. However, it is also hard to recycle and becomes the biggest challenge of the industry. Overall considering product maturity, packaging cost and environmental protection, whether it’s recyclable has become a key factor in the sustainable development of flexible packaging.
At present, the common flexible packaging is hard to separate and recycle after use, but if the multi-material structure is easy to separate, that means this structure is below the packaging requirement. So there is a contradiction between maintaining the inherent attribute of packaging and improving recycling value.
Due to the different international standards and national governance schemes of recyclable packaging, there is no solution with comprehensive practicality and international universality. Circular economy and Zero-wast society are the future sustainable trend we pursuit. However, during the international transition period of recyclable packaging, the current optimal solution should be recognized and promoted by the international community.
